Check-in Rewards App

Check in at local businesses and collect entries for a monthly prize draw

The client runs a loyalty scheme that rewards people for visiting local businesses. Our team developed the mobile app: members find participating businesses, check in at them to collect raffle tickets for a monthly prize draw, and can go VIP for access to more offers.

The recreated check-in rewards app: this month's VIP prize fund of €250 and a space for VIP offers, shown with the list of participating businesses or with the VIP screen and its Go VIP and Invite Friends offers

The product

What it does, and for whom

The scheme is meant to bring people back to local businesses again and again. Each check-in at a participating business, made by scanning the QR code at the counter, gives the member a unique raffle ticket, and a winning ticket is drawn at the start of every month. For the businesses it is a way to attract and keep customers; for members, every visit is another chance to win.

Scope The loyalty scheme, its prizes and the participating businesses are the client's. Our work was the mobile app described here. To keep the client confidential, the screens on this page are recreated from the delivered app with neutral naming, fictional businesses and people, and an example prize fund.

Inside the app

  1. Participating businesses and the draw rules

Members search the participating businesses or filter them by category — favourites, motoring, food and drink, nightlife and retail. Each business card shows its address, distance and whether the member has checked in there yet, with a heart to save it. The raffle rules explain how check-ins become tickets and how prizes are drawn and collected.

Recreated list of participating businesses with a search bar and category icons for see all, favourites, motoring, food and drink, nightlife and retail, and an enlarged panel of the cards for Corner Barbers, Riverside Café, Harbour Books, Bloom Florist and Spice Garden Kitchen, each with an address, a distance and the line I haven't checked in here yet, above the bottom menu

  2. VIP, prizes and invitations

The VIP screen shows this month's prize fund and invites members to go VIP for free to reach more offers. The account menu gathers instant-win prizes, the member's check-ins, account details, referrals and bug reports, with an invitation that gives bonus tickets when friends join.

Recreated VIP screen with a Go VIP for free banner, and an enlarged panel of this month's VIP prize fund of €250, which grows through the month as advertising revenue comes in, and the VIP offers box where offers from participating businesses will appear

About these images: the screens are recreated from the delivered app for this case study, with neutral naming, fictional businesses and people, and an example prize fund in place of the client's brand and details. They follow the app's real screens and functions, but they are not screenshots of it.
